WHO AM I?
I'm an artist and writer who got lousy grades in elementary school and only loved art and reading stories. Then I did what they told me and got good grades and went to Princeton and forgot I knew how to paint and tell stories. I hit rock bottom in my thirties -- no running water, no heat, living in a trailer in the mountains -- and rediscovered my creative side. Now I pay the bills as a CPA to the cannabis industry and try to paint or write every day.
WHO ARE YOU?
If you believe that life is about passion and color, not just about sound bites and tweets. If you believe art should make your eyes dance, even if your body doesn't always get to or can't, and that the stories you read should stir your soul.
If you want to share your space with a painting or poster that looks a little different from the images you see everyday online that somehow all look the same, then you and I have more than a little bit in common.
Maybe we both see the world a differently from most people.
My paintings are on my walls at home, and they make me happy each time I see them as I walk by. Perhaps they'll do the same for you.
And if you’d like to read a quirky story or two, please feel free to click on the Short Stories tab and enjoy “The Last Oak”, “Cat and the Rock Star” and “Outro.”
With warmth and respect,
Simon Menkes
